Dave Collyer of Tin Machina is an artist working with chemistry, metal and glass to create hand made photography using the wet plate collodion method from the 1800’s. He was formerly was a surf and travel photographer and still loves riding waves and experiencing culture shock.
In Dave's workshop, Handmade Photograph, students will learn the about the early history of photography while making a tintype box camera from basic materials and then use it to shoot metal photo plates (tintypes) provided by the instructor. Students will expose the plates using their handmade cameras and then watch images come to life! Students will take home their cameras and three tintypes!
